- Downloading WS FTP: To download WS FTP from Kuwait University Web
site follow the easy step-by-step instructions listed below:
- Use any browser and type the following URL in the address field:
http://ssg.kuniv.edu.kw.
Then click on DOWNLOAD.
- The "DOWNLOAD ZONE" page will pop up.
- Go to "Download From KU Web Site" pull down menu:
- Select "Networks" option.
- Then click on "GO" button.
- You will be connected to the "Download page" of KU Web site.
- Under "Telnet & FTP Clients" category click on "WS FTP Le 5.08".
- The "File Download" window will pop up:
- Choose "Save this program to disk" option.
- Then click on "OK" button.
- The "Save As" dialogue box will appear:
- In "Save in" field, select drive "C:" from the pull down menu.
- Click on "Create New Folder" icon.
- A new folder will appear. Rename it, for example "TEMP".
- Double click on "TEMP" folder or click on "Open" button to open the folder.
- Click on "Save" button to begin saving WS FTP on your computer.
- Installing WS FTP: To install WSFTP on your computer follow the
easy step-by-step instructions listed below:
- The "Download complete" window will pop up indicating that the download is completed.
Click on "Open" button.
- The "WS_FTP LE Installation" setup wizard window or dialogue box will appear.
- Select "Install WS_FTP LE".
- Then click on "Continue" button.
- The setup wizard will continue asking questions to complete the installation process.
Fill out each question with its appropriate answer. For help, just follow the example
listed below:
- Select "A student, faculty member, or staff member of an educational institution
(k-12, junior college, college, or university)".
- Then click on "Next" button.
- The "How will you Use WS_FTP LE?" window will appear:
- For "Location:" category, select "At work" from the checkbox menu.
- For "Purpose:" category, select "For academic work" from the checkbox menu.
- Then click on "Next" button.
- The "WS_FTP LE is NOT Shareware" dialogue box will pop up. Click on "Accept" button.
- At this point, you either accept the default wizard settings (highly recommenede)
or enter your preferred ones. Then Click on "OK" button 3 times to complete
the installtion process.
- The "Congratulations" window will pop up notifying you that the installation process is
completed. Then click on "OK" button.
- Using WS FTP: To start using WS FTP on your computer follow the
easy step-by-step instructions listed below:
- Click on "Start" menu. Choose "Programs" folder. Then choose "WS_FTP" application program and click on
"WS_FTP95 LE".
- The "WS_FTP LE" main window and the "Session Properties" window will pop up simultaneously
whenever you run WS_FTP program.
- First, we should complete the setup for the "Session Properties" window in order to start
using WS_FTP:
- In "Profile Name" field, type in your name or select from the giving options.
- In "Host Name/Address" field, type in "139.141.199.1"
- In "Host Type" field, select "Automatic detect" from the pull down menu.
- In "User ID" field, type in your kuc01 username.
- In "Password" field, type in your password.
- Then click on "OK" button.
- The "WS_FTP LE 139.141.199.1" main window will appear and you will receive a message which
indicates that you are connected to kuc01. For help, follow the example shown below.
- There are several ways to transfer your "html files" and "images" to your kuc01 account.
For example you can transfer files from floppy disk drive, C drive, CDRW drive or USB drive. Note you
should transfer all you "html files" and "images" to "WWW" folder.
- In "Local System" field, type in "A:/" then press "Enter" key or double click on "[-a-]".
- In "Remote Site" field, type in "www" then press "Enter" key or double click on "www" folder.
- In "Local Sysytem" field, you will view all your files in the floppy disk.
- In "Remore Site" field, you will view all your files under "www" folder.
- Now you can begin tranfering your files:
- In "Remote Site" make sure you are in "www" folder.
- In "Local System" under "Name" select your "html" file.
- Click on "
" button.
- "Transfer Status" window will pop up, indicates that transfering process will begin automatically.
- Transfer your images from Floppy drisk, for example:
- Click in "Local System" bar, type in"A:/" then click on "Enter" button.
- In "Remote Site" select "www" folder.
- To organize your images in afolder. Press "MkDir".
- "Input" window will pop up, in "Enter new remote folder name" type "IMAGES".
- Click on "OK".
- To Start transfer your images:
- Double click on the new folder "IMAGES".
- Make sure you know the destination of your file.
- In "Local System" select the image, for example, "screen_1.jpg"
- In "Remote Site" make sure you are in right folder, for example, "USERNAME.WWW.IMAGES".
- Click on "
" button.
- "Transfer Status" window will pop up, indicates that sending "BINARY file screen_1.jpg.." automatically.
- Modify any "HTML" files:
- In "Remote Site" under "www" folder, select your "----.HTML;1."
- To save your file, in "Local System" one click and type in your folder name OR click on any drives.
- Click on "
" button.
- To delete images:
- First in "Remote Site", select the image.
- Click on "
" button.
- "Verify Deletion" window will pop up, verify are you sure want to delete this image. Click on "yes".
- To delete Folder or File using "TELNET":
- NOTE you can't delete "Folder" using WSFTP.
- Click on the following URL
Deleting, and follow the instructions to delete unwanted
"Folder".
