  1. Downloading WS FTP: To download WS FTP from Kuwait University Web site follow the easy step-by-step instructions listed below:
  1. Use any browser and type the following URL in the address field: http://ssg.kuniv.edu.kw. Then click on DOWNLOAD.
  1. The "DOWNLOAD ZONE" page will pop up.
  1. Go to "Download From KU Web Site" pull down menu:
  1. Select "Networks" option.
  2. Then click on "GO" button.
  1. You will be connected to the "Download page" of KU Web site.
  1. Under "Telnet & FTP Clients" category click on "WS FTP Le 5.08".
  1. The "File Download" window will pop up:
  1. Choose "Save this program to disk" option.
  2. Then click on "OK" button.
  1. The "Save As" dialogue box will appear:
  1. In "Save in" field, select drive "C:" from the pull down menu.
  2. Click on "Create New Folder" icon.
  3. A new folder will appear. Rename it, for example "TEMP".
  1. Double click on "TEMP" folder or click on "Open" button to open the folder.
  1. Click on "Save" button to begin saving WS FTP on your computer.

  1. Installing WS FTP: To install WSFTP on your computer follow the easy step-by-step instructions listed below:
  1. The "Download complete" window will pop up indicating that the download is completed. Click on "Open" button.
  1. The "WS_FTP LE Installation" setup wizard window or dialogue box will appear.
  1. Select "Install WS_FTP LE".
  2. Then click on "Continue" button.
  1. The setup wizard will continue asking questions to complete the installation process. Fill out each question with its appropriate answer. For help, just follow the example listed below:
  1. Select "A student, faculty member, or staff member of an educational institution (k-12, junior college, college, or university)".
  2. Then click on "Next" button.
  1. The "How will you Use WS_FTP LE?" window will appear:
  1. For "Location:" category, select "At work" from the checkbox menu.
  2. For "Purpose:" category, select "For academic work" from the checkbox menu.
  3. Then click on "Next" button.
  1. The "WS_FTP LE is NOT Shareware" dialogue box will pop up. Click on "Accept" button.
  1. At this point, you either accept the default wizard settings (highly recommenede) or enter your preferred ones. Then Click on "OK" button 3 times to complete the installtion process.


  1. The "Congratulations" window will pop up notifying you that the installation process is completed. Then click on "OK" button.

  1. Using WS FTP: To start using WS FTP on your computer follow the easy step-by-step instructions listed below:
  1. Click on "Start" menu. Choose "Programs" folder. Then choose "WS_FTP" application program and click on "WS_FTP95 LE".
  1. The "WS_FTP LE" main window and the "Session Properties" window will pop up simultaneously whenever you run WS_FTP program.
  1. First, we should complete the setup for the "Session Properties" window in order to start using WS_FTP:
  1. In "Profile Name" field, type in your name or select from the giving options.
  2. In "Host Name/Address" field, type in "139.141.199.1"
  3. In "Host Type" field, select "Automatic detect" from the pull down menu.
  4. In "User ID" field, type in your kuc01 username.
  5. In "Password" field, type in your password.
  6. Then click on "OK" button.
  7. The "WS_FTP LE 139.141.199.1" main window will appear and you will receive a message which indicates that you are connected to kuc01. For help, follow the example shown below.


  1. There are several ways to transfer your "html files" and "images" to your kuc01 account. For example you can transfer files from floppy disk drive, C drive, CDRW drive or USB drive. Note you should transfer all you "html files" and "images" to "WWW" folder.
  1. In "Local System" field, type in "A:/" then press "Enter" key or double click on "[-a-]".
  2. In "Remote Site" field, type in "www" then press "Enter" key or double click on "www" folder.
  1. In "Local Sysytem" field, you will view all your files in the floppy disk.
  2. In "Remore Site" field, you will view all your files under "www" folder.
  1. Now you can begin tranfering your files:
  1. In "Remote Site" make sure you are in "www" folder.
  2. In "Local System" under "Name" select your "html" file.
  3. Click on " " button.
  1. "Transfer Status" window will pop up, indicates that transfering process will begin automatically.
  1. Transfer your images from Floppy drisk, for example:
  1. Click in "Local System" bar, type in"A:/" then click on "Enter" button.
  2. In "Remote Site" select "www" folder.
  3. To organize your images in afolder. Press "MkDir".
  4. "Input" window will pop up, in "Enter new remote folder name" type "IMAGES".
  5. Click on "OK".
  1. To Start transfer your images:
  1. Double click on the new folder "IMAGES".
  2. Make sure you know the destination of your file.
  1. In "Local System" select the image, for example, "screen_1.jpg"
  2. In "Remote Site" make sure you are in right folder, for example, "USERNAME.WWW.IMAGES".
  3. Click on " " button.
  1. "Transfer Status" window will pop up, indicates that sending "BINARY file screen_1.jpg.." automatically.
  1. Modify any "HTML" files:
  1. In "Remote Site" under "www" folder, select your "----.HTML;1."
  2. To save your file, in "Local System" one click and type in your folder name OR click on any drives.
  3. Click on " " button.
  1. To delete images:
  1. First in "Remote Site", select the image.
  2. Click on " " button.
  1. "Verify Deletion" window will pop up, verify are you sure want to delete this image. Click on "yes".
  1. To delete Folder or File using "TELNET":
  1. NOTE you can't delete "Folder" using WSFTP.
  2. Click on the following URL Deleting, and follow the instructions to delete unwanted "Folder".
